Most sock yarns will knit approximately 8-10 stitches per inch and 10-12 rows per inch. Choose your stitch count by measuring around your foot while accounting for the need for negative ease in your finished sock.
Approximate circumference based on stitch count:
60 stitches ~ 6 3/4 inches
72 stitches ~ 8 inches

I bought my Circular Sock Machine in 2022 and took a Circular Sock Machine class at North House Folk School. I've been cranking socks nonstop since. I think it's fascinating to combine the love of knitting, with the history of these machines.
